We embrace a ‘buy don’t build’ mentality for software. In house custom systems or ‘one-offs’ carry a significant burden of ownership. They are difficult to secure and keep current and almost always fall behind.
We prefer a solution which remains up to date even if this means adapting to some changes we cannot control. Being up to date is a typical problem with older or custom software and can result in security risks, lack of mobile access and excessive update costs.
Wherever possible we build with Evergreen (always up to date) components maintained by Esri and Microsoft. This means a solution won’t become obsolete in a few years given the rapid pace of technology change writ large.
Modern computing platforms provide endless working components out of the box which are actively maintained, and which be configured and re-assembled to fit most operational needs.
